Clive A. H. Smith (born, London, England) is a singer/songwriter (ASCAP writer and publisher member), composer/performer, arranger/producer, synthesist/programmer, multi-instrumentalist and sound designer. He received his M.A. in composition from New York University.
His currently available solo albums are Clever Animals, Clive Smith Non-Songs, The Great Swamp: An Ambient Musical Meditation, Part 1, The Great Swamp: An Ambient Musical Meditation, Part 2, Legato, and Seven Still Lifes.
As one half of the musical duos, In Real Time (with Bob Kaus), and Visceral (with Bill Weisbach), Clive has also released The Gallery Soundscapes, Vol. 1 & Vol. 2, and Portraits of Inertia, and as one quarter of the quartet e’fessioux he has released Jangala, Glow I, and Glow II.
As a studio musician he has worked with a variety of people including Herbie Hancock, Yoko Ono, Sly Stone, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Malcolm McLaren, Hall and Oates (receiving a platinum album for his work on their Big Bam Boom record), and Freddie Jackson (receiving a platinum album for Just Like The First Time).
At present he continues to write instrumental background and theme music for TV and film for his publisher, DSM Producers who has, to date, released more than a dozen CDs containing some of Clive's music.
